Sibiu (Hermannstadt in German), with its historical center which has 8 centuries of history, medieval fortifications, Gothic churches, Renaissance buildings, Baroque palaces and an impressive network of museums, is in 2007, together with Luxemburg, the European Capital of Culture.
Tens of million of Euros or involved in Sibiu’s reconstruction, which took place for about two years. Many buildings were renovated, streets and squares repaired and new hotels were built.
Sibiu is famous not just because of its buildings, but also because of its people. The people of Sibiu are warm and hospitable. They welcome with open arms the visitors, whether they come on business or as tourists looking for the rich experience, or in search of fun, sports or nature.

But Samuel von Brukenthal, governor of Transylvania, is the most important peronality of Sibiu, having an important role in Sibiu’s development as an important cultural and economical center.
