Brukenthal Museum (Muzeul Brukenthal)
Samuel Brukenthal, governor of Transylvania, built the Brukenthal Palace between1777 and 1787, in baroque style. During his life Samuel Brukenthal Sibiu - Brukenthal Museum gathered inthis remarkable palace a vast collection of paintings, antiques, coins, and rarebooks. The palace hosts the Brukenthal Museum, which includes the Art Galleryand the Exhibition of Ethnography and Folk Arts. The Art Gallery was open to the public in 1817, only seven years after the National Gallery in London, with1090 paintings from the collection of Samuel Brukenthal. Today the Art Gallery,has approximately 450 Flemish and Dutch paintings, 500 paintings representingthe German and Austrian schools, and 200 Italian paintings, being one of the mostvaluable collections in Europe. The Ethnography and Folk Collection is dividedin several sections such as the Pottery Room, the textile and fabrics section,folk costumes, and has two rustic interiors, a wood processing sector and a painting on glass collection. The museum, situated in Piata Mare, can be visited every day, except Monday.

History Museum (Muzeul de Istorie)
The building, which today hosts the Museum of History, was erected in the 15th century and it is the largest Gothic ensemble in Transylvania. The Old Town Hall functioned in this place between 1549 and 1948. It was better known as the Altemberger House, after the name of the mayor during whose mandate the construction of the building took place. Since 1984 the ensemble, situated on Mitropoliei Street, belongs to History Museum whose patrimony includes collections of fine arts, documentary graphics, weapons, numismatics and archeology.

Astra Museum (Muzeul Astra)
The Astra Museum includes 6 expositions, among them the "Astra" Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization, situated in Dumbrava Forest, 4 km from the city. 'Astra' Village Museum It was founded in 1963, and diplays original peasant houses and industrial peasant installations. Also, the museum has an impressive number of mills of all kind.
The Rustic Inn built in 1922, originally from Harghita County, represents an important attraction. The museum's patrimony includes 340 original buildings with 19,000 objects.
"Franz Binder" Museum was inaugurated in 1993, being the first and only museum of extra-European ethnography in Romania. Situated in Piata Mica, the museum is housed in a historical monument, built in neo-Gothic style between 1865-1867, initially serving as a center of the Small Handicraftsmen's Association. Histroy Museum of Pharamcy (Muzeul de Istorie a Farmaciei)
Opened in 1972, the History Museum of Pharmacy, situated in Piata Mica, includes over 6600 pieces from the 16-19th centuries, among these, objects such as wooden and glass vessels, medical instruments and old publications. The museum building was erected in 1568 with Gothic and Renaissance elements.
Museum of Natural History (Muzeul de Istorie Naturala)
The museum was founded in 1849, the actual building which houses the museum being inaugurated in 1895. The main exhibition of the museum is "Systematics of theAnimal World". The museum collections include over 1,000 pieces. The museum, located on Cetatii Street, is open every day, except Monday.
Museum of Arms and Hunting Trophies (Muzeul de Arme si Trofee de Vanatoare)
The museum was opened in 1966 and reorganized in 1981 in the Spiess House. Spiess was an authority in the field of hunting. The collection includes almost 1,500 pieces, local and exotic trophies, various arms and hunting accessories which come mainly from three important collections: "August von Spiess", "Emil Witting" and the Collection of the "Transylvanian Society of Natural Sciences of Sibiu".

The Steam Locomotives Museum (Muzeul de Locomotive cu Aburi)
The Steam Locomotives Museum in Sibiu, situated on Dorobantilor Street, was inaugurated in 1994 and it has more than 35 exhibits. Some of the locomotives are still functional, being used even today for different occasions.
